Does anyone have any tips on how to improve the art quality? Every time I resize my they get really pixelated.

When working on a horse avatar, I work on a 1000x1000 pixel canvas. If I work on any bigger of a canvas, the end resized product tends to be extremely pixel-ly. I think this might be your problem.
