Jade rubbed her eyes and sat up in her bed, yawning. It wasn't normal for her maid, Nima, to be this late. Jade shrugged the thought away and slipped her socks off of her feet. She rolled out of her bed and had combed her hair when she looked out the window. The sun was setting the sky to a gorgeous shade of pink and orange. Sunrise ride! Jade began scrambling for a pair of pants that would be suitable for her ride, slipping them and a grey shirt on. She reached for her riding boots when she noticed they were missing. She had just stood up when Nima finally burst through the doors, revealing the tall silhouette of her new guard behind her. Her gaze snagged on the flustered woman holding out a pair of shiny black boots. "I had grabbed them last night to shine them, Your Highness." She huffed. Jade giggled and clasped her soft hands around Nima's rougher ones. "Thank you." She said then gently pulled the boots from her maid's grasp. Jade laced her boots then walked through the door that was still open. She swallowed and gazed up at the guard Father had insisted she have follow her around all day. "Good morning, sir." She ducked her head in greeting. "I assume you are my new guard?" Her tone was firm yet soft, bitter with a gentle edge to it, dripping with power. She held herself with such grace that Nima stepped back into the room.

Jade crossed her arms as she pondered the "reasons" her father would suddenly feel the need to guard her. She brushed it off with a cheery remark. "Well, I hope you are much familiar with riding. What's your name, sir?" She asked, her piercing green eyes roaming his face and his posture. She smiled at Nima before turning on her heel, head slightly turned as she spoke with the guard. Her boots were tucked between her arm and her body. She nodded to passing guards and servants, sometimes greeting them by name or asking about their family. Jade gave a slight nod to the guards a door and they obeyed her silent command immediately, displaying a beautiful stretch of land. A large barn stood not far from the rolling hills and pastures. Horses cantered across the lawn. One in particular caught her eye, and she perked up. "Figaro!" She called and the gelding lifted his head and gave a shrill whinny. She turned briefly toward her guard. "Which horse will you be riding?" She asked.

Jade tilted her head, her hair falling over her shoulder. "Gale Humendeaus." She repeated. She nodded swiftly, starting her trek toward the barns. She smiled at passing stable hands and grooms. One in particular stared up at her with a giant smile. Jade bent down and spoke quietly to the child, giggling when she tore down the aisle. She watched the little girl disappear beyond the doors. "She has been trying to beat her time for months now." She exlained to Gale. "She believes that she can run and retrieve Figaro in less than two and a half minutes." Jade clasped her hands together, eying a hand who had stopped what he was doing and began counting under his breath. A groom stopped beside Gale, hesitantly asking if he needed a horse. Three minutes later, the little girl was panting, a frisky bay gelding prancing beside her. She tied Figaro to the bars then hurried to a groom. Jade smiled at her horse. He had no markings on his face or legs- just a sleek, brown coat. A groom walked a large black mare down the aisle and tied her up. "This is Remi." Jade said, reaching over to pat the mare.
