Sage raised an eyebrow slowly when Remy brought up two guys being together. He wasn't sure what it was like under the waves, but it was a heasitant question, so he figured it was sort of taboo. He shrugged in resoonse though, since he had no issues with it. He'd slept with plenty of guys too. "Not too much of a difference," he noted, leaning against the door frame. "No one gets pregnant, other than that it's about the same." He briefly explained it, though not too deeply as Remy seemed to have to figure this all out as sage was talking, and he supposed it was a lot to think about.

Remy was confused, but he didn't ask. "Oh..." the boy hed liked underwater, he did eventually ask out, but that just ended in heartbreak. Love wasn't a thing under the sea. You just looked for someone that you could tolerate and offspring would come out good. Apparently up here it was different.

Sage grunted in response, eyeing Remy. He looked confused, and a little off put by it all. "Ideally, you love someone, marry, have kids, all the rest. Society likes that," he noted. "But there's groups of us who think love is better than perfect kids, or think love is some sort of fantasy," he mused, moving to flop down on the mattress next to Remy with a sigh. His own relationships had been...bad, to say the least. He had to admit he was leaning towards the latter idea. Love was real....it just never ended well. At least, not for him

Remy didnt believe in love. Not in the world he grew up in and not now. "I wanna go back to the tank..." he breathed.

Sage glanced over at him and nodded with a grunt, standing up and then moving to help him take the clothes off, so they'd be dry when he needed them later, and then helped him walk back to the tank, letting him slide in off the platform and into the water. He sat down on the platform, watching his tail reform.

Remy slid back into the tank, his tail reforming. He quickly slipped under the water, exhaling and switching back to his gills before diving down, curling up under his rock.

Sage watched Remy curl back up under the rock, moving with a sigh to his desk, sort of staring at notes without getting very far. He jumped when the door opened and his stepmother wandered inside. He tensed, throwing a glance at Remy, who's back was still turned. It wasn't like he could do anything. His stepmother offered him a smile and a cup of coffee or something, cooing something the was supposed to sound sweet. He knew better. But she'd sat down next to him, and he knew better to refuse the drink, so he lifted it to his lips and talking with her as she spoke. He hated it, and when he started to feel drowsy, slumping against her, he knew that it was unavoidable.

Remy glanced up to the window in his tank that looked into Sages office. He spotted a woman. It seemed like they liked each other, or loved each other... hell if he knew. Great. Sage had someone too... was it just Remy who had absolutely no one?

Sage did his best to fight whatever she'd put in the drink, but just like always he slumped over into her after a few minutes. She smiled at him, sending a shudder down his spine, but he really couldn't move or do much to protest as she moved to drag him to his room

Remy looked away and curled up further into himself. Maybe love wasnt meant for him... the thought gnawed at him, and he cried, his face tucked in his tail. He didnt deserve love... no one loved him... no one ever would...
