If you add beneficial bacteria which you can get at pet stores it can make it faster :)

With cycling though you have to take into account a brand new fresh tank can run forever but unless something is put into the system, it will never be cycled because the beneficial bacteria doesn't have anything to feed on

Yeah I did have issues with nitrite for months myself thinking back

@Zz, just a month is nothing. I can do that. My research says 10-12 weeks which is like 3 months!

Well if you are wanting just one, a betta is the way to go. They are super friendly and personable and very easy to care for

I second the research. Specifically research the nitrogen cycle. Running it for A week isn’t enough usually. Mine took a month

I think I am just scared of having multiple fish vs just one.

I had them breed back when I had a large angelfish tank lol of course the angels ate the eggs

I would just say overall ALWAYS do your research! Every fish needs something different such as tank size, food. etc. Also some fish don't get along with others. :) Plus what works for one person might not work for another.

Corys are cute but they theyre bottom dwelling, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have something else to hang in the middle

No they are small. You can even get pygmy ones which are really tiny
Hummingbird Meadows
09:13:28 Bird
@Angels, don't they need bigger tanks though?
Insignia Elites
09:13:25 Em
@bird yes! they scavenge the substrate for food! But watching them breed is really inserting! Mine do every so often but the eggs always get eaten. They are considered a bottom dweller :)

@Stardust, sounds like she has just had a long day.

Yesss I love corys. I always add them to my tank because they eat leftover food that sinks to the bottom and help reduce ammonia spikes

Ok so this is a genuine question for any parents on HEE - My mom said dinner's ready and I said what are we having. She said chicken, shrimp, and salad. I said what kind of salad and she started freaking out and telling me I'm rude and not supportive. Now here's the question - Is there a reason for this?
Hummingbird Meadows
09:12:28 Bird
Corydoras sound fun too, but evidently they only stay at the bottom of the tank?

Goldfish and plants don't mix well xD same as places they turn up the sand too much most plants can't root

I want to get duckweed or something similar cause it’s super prolific but the two goldfish I have in there at the moment would eat it all XD they’ll probably be moving on to a friends pond soon though

Howdy Art Nerds!

Since Art Studies (of masters, photos, real life) are one of the best ways to improve our art, I thought I'd start an Art Study thread for our studies!
Feel free to share your studies in an media you see fit, whether traditional (pencil, pen, gouche, chalk, etc.) or digital (phone, tablet, mouse?!) These aren't our masterpeices, our babies, or final products. But every study teaches us something and shows us where we can grow more. These are part of the vital process of learning form, color, composition & lighting, as well as good practice for learning a new medium.

If you need some reference photos check out this site, but make sure not to use any of the websites forbidden in this thread. As always, make sure to credit your reference on your image, even if it's a Work In Progress. Resources in the link above are intended for Art Studies ONLY. Make sure to check the copyright usage as these images may not be distributable for profits before you use them as a references for your art stores. Where possible please provide a link to the original image so we can see how you interpretted the original to your art.

Looking forward to seeing everyone share and grow!

Starting it off with a quick work-in-progress Buckskin I did today (from Morguefile):

Completed study, ~1 hr time. Learned I need to get back into drawing horses more often. Also horse chin hairs are cute.

Hoping to see other artists in the study group soon!

Not sure if this counts as a study, but here is a drawing I made of a Siberian husky :)
I took the pose from this picture
(Pose and basic shapes)
But it was freehand
Here was the WIP, that I then traced over with a finer line.

This can absolutely count as a form and/ or pose study (depending on your intended focus). You captured both form and pose here really well!

Just over 1 hr, it still has a very rough work-in-progress feel. I'm learning which brushes to use for texture in CS Pro as well as refining my color technique. Form and lighting weren't as critical here. Photo reference.

These are really nice. Hands are really tough to draw well. The bottom left one looks perfect!
