I've seen/know some people who can do art for hours on end until they start getting hand cramps or a tired arm. I can do art for about an hour before my hand starts hurting. Does anybody have some tips on how to do art for longer periods of time or how to prevent hand cramps?

Well first off, how do you make your art? Do you use a stylus of any kind?

Yes I do use a stylus. It's not a very high quality one though.

I have wrist issues and I usually wear a compression glove while I work, although I'm not sure if this would help you since it was recommended by my doctor

So I'd reccomend checking how exactly you hold the stylus when you work. The majority of people hold a pencil/stylus differently based on the way they learned to write. Weirdly enough, if you hold the stylus the way it's taught in schools, your hand is able to go a lot longer without cramping/hurting. Man this is hard to explain without actually holding a pencil or something XD
So basically, you want to hold the pencil in between your thumb and pointer finger so that when you write/draw those two fingers form an 'o' shape. This will feel unnatural but it definitely helps cramps.

Oh, that makes sense. I was never really taught the "correct" way to hold a pencil in school so growing up I just balled my fist around it. Now I have really awkward hands when drawing or writing. I'll try that and see If it helps.

This is how I hold my pencil, it definitely is different for everyone and if it doesn't help with hand problems just know it's not because you are doing something wrong. It can also be how you grip the pen, if you are holding it like it will shatter if you drop it that can add stress and cause hand cramping as well

If you have a stylus on the thinner side, you might be able to find one of those pencil grip things. And like Gem says; maybe check how you're holding your stylus(and make sure you're not holding it too tight).
You could also try using the whole arm while drawing if you're not already. I know it's hard if you're drawing on a smaller device, but it will help decrease strain on your wrist. AND it makes it easier to draw longer, smoother lines :)
Last but not least: Take breaks before you cramp. Say.. every 20-30 minutes just put your stylus down and give your hand/arm a little rest or maybe even do some stretches.
I've had some of those hours long sessions of just drawing, not caring if my hand hurt.. Do not recommend xD
