Sera looked up at him, their fingers already lacing together like muscle memory. She nodded slowly, her thumb brushing over his knuckles. “Yeah… let’s go,” she murmured. She didn’t pull away from his gaze, not at first. He saw too much—he always did. She could tell by the way he was looking at her that he’d already caught onto the strange flicker in her eyes, the one that said something doesn’t feel right,even though the doctor had just told her she was fine. But how was she supposed to explain that? That she wanted there to be a reason, something simple and solvable, and instead she was left with… stress. Something vague and shapeless and harder to fight than any illness. She forced a softer smile for his sake and leaned gently into his side as they began walking toward the doors. “I’m just tired, Finn,” she said quietly, as if saying it out loud might make it feel more real. “I think I just need a minute to catch my breath.” |

Sera settled into the passenger seat slowly, letting the door shut with a soft thud behind her. Her fingers fidgeted with the hem of her sleeve, eyes trained on the dashboard while Finn’s question hung gently in the air. She turned her head, looking at him with tired eyes but a grateful smile. “Just be here,” she said softly. “That’s all I need right now.” Her hand found his on the center console, curling her fingers around his gently. “You don’t have to fix it. You don’t have to say anything perfect. Just… being here, being you, is more than enough.” She leaned her head against the window, still holding his hand, eyes fluttering closed for a moment. “Let’s just go home. I think I just need a quiet night with you.” |

Finn nodded, squeezing her hand. "Okay," he replied softly driving them home. Once at home, he took her hand and went inside flopping on the bed with her and cuddling in. He rubbed her back gently, just comforting her. "Were you hoping to be pregnant?" he asked softly. |

Sera curled up beside him, her face tucked against his chest as his hand rubbed slow, soothing circles into her back. The quiet hum of his voice melted into the silence between them, and the question made her breath hitch—just a little. She didn’t answer right away. Her hand slipped up to rest against his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath her fingers. Safe. Solid. Real. “…I don’t know,” she admitted quietly, voice barely above a whisper. “I didn’t think I was. But when they said I wasn’t…” She hesitated, then let out a soft breath. “I think a part of me was… disappointed. Even if it doesn’t make any sense.” She tilted her head up just enough to look at him. “Is that stupid?” she asked, her eyes shining but calm. “It just… kind of surprised me.” |

"Its not stupid, sunshine. Nothing you feel is stupid," he whispered gently. "Don't worry about it too much, sunshine, we'll have kids soon," he kissed her head. |

Sera closed her eyes as he kissed her head, her arms tightening around him just a little more. The warmth of his voice, the softness in his words—she felt them settle into her like a balm, soothing something raw and fragile inside her. She gave a quiet hum in response, nuzzling into his chest. “You always know what to say,” she whispered, the ghost of a smile tugging at her lips. “Even when I don’t know what I need.” A beat passed, her fingers lightly curling into the fabric of his shirt. “I do want that. Kids… a family with you. Just thinking about it makes everything feel a little brighter.” Her voice cracked softly with the emotion she hadn’t meant to let show. She buried her face against him again. “Thank you for always making me feel safe to want things.” |

Sera let out a soft, breathy laugh, the sound muffled slightly by his chest. Her arms tightened around him again, warm tears pricking at the corners of her eyes—but this time, they weren’t from sadness. “You’re gonna be the best dad,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. “And I’m so lucky you picked me.” She tilted her head to look up at him, eyes shimmering, a small but genuine smile tugging at her lips. “I want all of that with you, Finn. The wedding, the little feet running around, the messy mornings and sleepy nights.” She leaned up to kiss his jaw softly. “Even when it’s hard… especially then. I want to build that life with you.” |
