Umm I like action packed books. The kind of books I like are things similar to the Divergant series, ToG, Hunger games, ect. I like fictions. Not really fantasy stuff but I read stuff with magic so...

I have to recommend Daughter of Smoke and Bone. The first book is kind of slower action-wise but the- umm never mind don't want to spoil xD
It's fantasy, but there aren't really "powers"

You might enjoy the Rebel Of The Sands trilogy. Action-packed and fantasy, this is still one of my faves simply because of the memories (I first read it when I was 13 or so, loved it and still do) Thw writing isn't super high-level, but at least the plot felt more original. YA Fantasy with extra spice xD

Renegades, by Marissa Meyer. The Reckoners, Brandon Sanderson. Super good action books with a hint of dystopia

My library has a little suggestion box that gives you a suggested book based on the ones you have checked out. The one recommended to me was a children's book called "Run fat piggy, run" why? ;-;

Lol

I just finished the His Dark Materials trilogy, and it was fantastic! It's amazing such a "modern" book (modern, in that it was published in 1995) physically feels like a classic while reading it, similar to reading Tolkein, Moby Dick, or any of the Brothers' Grimm fairy tales. I read it via audiobook, as I haven't had nearly as much time to read as of recent, and because of this I dont think I got as much out of the books as I would have liked, but I intend to read the physical books in the future. I already have the recent Anniversary edition of Northern Lights/ The Golden Compass hehe.
I'm been wanting to read this trilogy for years! I liked the original movie when it came out in theatres, but didnt really understand it at the time if I'm being honest. I had also seen an interactive museum display about the making of the movie a while ago, which made me even more curious.
I am so happy I've waited until now to read it. If I'd read it around the time the movie came out most if not all of it would have gone completely over my head, but instead now I can relate and agree with the themes and ideas the trilogy explores, despite the main characters being younger than myself.
I will definitely be getting a HBO free trial so I can watch the show, as I've recently been hearing very good things about it.

Fair warning, if anyone intends on reading this trilogy, it is a banned book, at least here in America, as it delves deep into the Catholic church/religion and what the author perceives to be issues within the church and religion. Much of the plot revolves around this and biblical stories/easter eggs specific mainly with Christianity along with a bit of Judaism, specifically Lucifer and his follower's fall from heaven, the basics of the book of Genesis, the topic of original sin, and a teeny bit from the Book of Enoch, which was taken out of the bible prior to the King James I version, I believe, but still exists within the Torah (it also mentions the Watchers, goes pretty in depth with Angels, as well as a few other small things I cant remember at the moment. However, there is probably a youtube video or article explaining the religious stories mentioned within each book somewhere on the internet). And nothing is explained, as the book is written assuming people know these stories and have a religious background, so if you are not particularly familiar with any of this I highly recommend you google synopses for these stories or watch a quick youtube video explanation. I can honestly say, this is the first time my very religious upbringing and interest in the topic of religion as a whole has ever come in handy lol
But all in all, if you have an issue with people questioning their faith/turning away from it, this series is not for you. The story is absolutely fantastic and I loved the way it was written, but it is ultimately in part about corruption within the Christian faith and church.

Has anyone here read The Book of Dust? I just borrowed La Belle Sauvage audiobook from the library but have yet to start it. Also, has anyone heard anything about when the 3rd book will be published? I tried googling it but couldn't find anything helpful.

Heh here's an update on what I'm currently reading, if anyone is curious. I'm not sure if I will post any reviews, but if I do they probably won't be for a while. I had to take a bit if a reading break last year, hence my starting audiobooks, so some of these titles may seem familiar haha.

In no particular order;

Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule (first Star Wars High Republic book)
Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff (3rd book in his Nevernight Chronicles trilogy)
Aurora Burning by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kauffman (book 2 in the Aurora Cycle)
The Kinder Poison by our very own Natalie Mae <3
The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann
The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage audiobook by Phillip Pullman
Serpent & Dove audiobook by Shelby Mahurin
