My therapist knows about it, but like I said it is just too painful and I get panic when I talk about it. Even now I feel tears welling in my eyes and my heartbeat increasing. But, having gone through it I have a lot of sympathy towards others experiencing the same thing.
Yeah, I am in clinicals at the hospital where I was a patient the first time I was in a psych ward and to this day I refuse to go up there and x-ray patients because I am almost positive I will have a major PTSD moment.
I have been lucky with my wards. The second one was better than the first but the total experience was really helpful. I'm sorry it wasnt so great for you
I think psych wards seriously need to be evaluated and changed. Instead of being helped, I was traumatized and treated poorly at a time when I needed help.
I was hospitalized in psych ward twice. Thankfully they were ok with me wearing my own clothes, but they made me wear a hospital gown the first day because they HAD to wash your clothes. It felt super uncomfortable and dehumanizing to wear a hospital gown that wouldnÂ’t button in the back when there were lots of men on there.
