I am not too big of a dog fan. Never really understood the hype 😭 But they're my lecturer's favourite animal so they're the example for everything, it gets boring fast lol
Oh yes!! Donkeys will be a definite! ThereÂ’s a farm here that breeds spotted donkeys and I have been wanting them for years. When we move thatÂ’s on our list lol
Ari, I think most people just get a dog they think is cute and donÂ’t actually research the breeds. You absolutely cannot shove just any breed into an apartment like most people do. I saw someone locally post that they took their dog from a huge farm property and moved to a smaller property where the dog doesnÂ’t have the land space it did and it completely destroyed their house when left alone. And of course they will just call it “separation anxiety” 😂
Dim, try donkeys!!! Despite the contrary, we had 2 donkeys for our herd of goats due to coyotes. They actually got along quite well, and the donkeys very much drove anything they could off.
Five, no 😬 I grew up with them and would like to never have to deal with them again. They give me wicked anxiety and I just donÂ’t fit with the lifestyle of a dog
Yes! So many people don't seem to get that, I know someone who got Pyrenees in the suburbs 🤦 guess who's dogs get out all the time lol. Coyotes are brutal here so I totally get having a guardian dog, yeah :)
Ooh no 😂 it sucks when they wake up. Hubby took the boy while I went potty and now heÂ’s got him on his chest sleeping and both are snoring 🥹 IÂ’m tempted to sneak away for a snack and drink
IÂ’m going to try attack geese and llama first though since IÂ’d rather just not deal with a dog, but if those donÂ’t work IÂ’ll have to look into it. Llamas are great
They just need a large territory! And something to guard. ThatÂ’s the only reason IÂ’d get a dog, for property/livestock protection. We have too many foxes/bobcats/coyotes here and I donÂ’t want to risk my livestock to them
If we were to ever be crazy enough to get a dog it would be a GSD working bred. I need something that can live in the barn all winter and not be psychotic. That or a Pyrenees. Those are the only two I would consider though
Oh 100%, german shepherds were the first ones I thought of :D as long as they have a job that fulfills them working lines are excellent choices in my opinion:3
Absolutely Ari! We had a working bred GSD when I was growing up and she was amazing. I wouldnÂ’t ever buy a show type GSD because personally I think their body build and hips are unethical, but the working bred ones that donÂ’t drag their ass on the floor are gorgeous
The thing is that you really should put more emphasis on what breeders are actually doing (genetic testing, not breeding things with bad temperaments/allergies, not breeding for color, not breeding flat faces/other disabilities etc) than papers yes, but most doodle breeders are also not doing that. I have only encountered one that did any of those things.
