No cast, just an ace wrap for compression. There isnÂ’t much to do until the swelling goes down more and they can do better imaging. Got lots of compliments on my self applied first aid which was a baby diaper wrapped around the knee to hide the huge ugly gash from the children. Pro tip folks: Do not jump into water that you cannot see clearly though, or you are not very very sure of the depth. As a former open water lifeguard I know this, and this is what makes the whole thing feel extra stupid,
We were swimming at the local lake yesterday and I jumped in, but I mistook the spot where I thought I saw lots of people jumping in. It was not the spot and I was unsure so I shouldnÂ’t have jumped at all because I couldnÂ’t see what was below the surface. It was a HUGE rock. Shattered my patella and ended up with some stitches. If I had decided to dive instead of cannonball, I would have definitely died.
