Also, I keep mine in a roundpen so anytime I handle him it's easier to turn it into a training session if need be. Everytime he turns his butt to me I chase him off and turn it into work. The butt is NOT allowed to face me. He can escape if he's uncomfortable, he can go sideways or backwards, but the hindquarters swjnging towards me is not an option. He is very good now at turning and facing me head on when he's uncertain, which keeps us both safer. You can't work and deferalize them if they're unsafe |
