Petition to change the name of “declawing” to “de-knuckling”. Because the surgery isnt removing the claws, it removes the first knuckle on their toes (because the claw grows from their bone, unlike human nails)
Oh yeah I am so against it. I had an older lady that I took in from a kill shelter here who was declawed. She hated using the litter box and had such bad arthritis from it. Poor little girl.
Trigger I am strongly against declawing cats. Sure it might make our lives nicer with less scratches but it causes so many extra problems for them ecscially as they get older
Both of my childhood cats were declawed. But this was before it was common knowledge that is was bad for them. Thank God they never seemed to have issues. And so glad we know better now.
I have scratchers all over the place here. I put catnip spray on them and I switch them out each week so they are always new haha. I do not have an issue with cats scratching furniture or anything really.
