AKA I will NOT hop on your horse if it is bucking around like a mad man.

Personally i dont have any issue with mucking, it's not that difficult. The dumping wheelbarrows might be an issue if you're prone to joint dislocations but im not sure. Feeding is easy, feed bags are only like 50 pounds max and you can take them one at a time if you need to, and then you only have to take a bucket to each horse or push a feed cart around.

My issue is I don't do well with high strung horses so I would have to only deal with experienced horses, hence beginner lessons. XD

pick, mucking hurts my shoulders more than my knees

@Puck, thanks! Have a good night!

@Picksey, I would say depending on how many stalls you have to do it can be pretty labor intensive.

i really want to take a part-time job at one of the stables nearby, just mucking and feeding, but i'm worried about if i'd be physically able to. i've got bad arthritis in both my knees and i'm more prone to joint dislocations, do y'all think mucking and feeding would be dangerous? or is it more like a medium-level difficulty of physical labor?

Sav, that's basically what happened to me minus the injury... I think most horse trainers just trip and fall into it 😂 my own trainer only started training because she owned a barn and let another trainer train out of it, then the other trainer sucked so she went "oh my god let me do this" and bam thirty years later she has one of the biggest programs in the county

@Dusty, I could probably only teach beginners as well.

To clarify im not like head trainer i just teach beginners to intermediate and then give them to my trainer when i feel like theyre ready to like start jumping courses or whatever

I don't have time to teach lessons now, but sounds like a nice side gig once I graduate.

I also just kinda fell into teaching, I was exercising horses for my trainer and stuff and the trainer before who was like my bestie got injured (shes still not better :( ) so i taught a few lessons and it went well and ive just been going since then
Im at a very small barn compared to the other barns around me which i think kinda helped

$200? Shoot neighborhood kids just show up when I got out to the horses and ask me stuff till it gets dark. Then I gotta “actually” work in the dark after they go home.

Feels like the equestrian community is so small around here it would be hard to find a trainer willing to let someone shadow and eventually take some of their students.

I looked into the free version, but that was just mucking stalls. XD

@Puck, my old barn had a clinic where you could shadow a trainer, but they charged $200/day just do that! Crazy.
