My former roommate's border collie got treats there, too, but there must have been something there that frightened him. As far as I know, he never had a bad experience there but he was so sensitive to even the subtlest cues, I never did figure it out. Maybe he smelled sick animals? Maybe he heard other animals in pain? I wish I could tell him that most of them got better because they went to the vet.
My cats have no problem going into their cat carriers, unless I accidentally say the word "vet". Then they will fight to not go in at all! I practice loading them in case there's a fire or some other reason to evacuate.
So, if there is ever an emergency where I have to GO GO GO as quickly as possible, they are ready to GO, so long as I don't say that hateful word. LOL!
One of my former roommates had a hyper-intelligent border collie. I would take him on long walks and visit local businesses that had dog treats. One such business was right next to his vet. Somehow, he KNEW! He would be as energetic as ever walking down that sidewalk if I intended to take him to that business for a treat, but I couldn't fake it. No matter how much I tried to pretend like we're going to the treat place, if my thought was to actually take him to the vet, he would tuck his tail between his legs and indicate he wanted to walk in the other direction. He was always obedient, but he would communicate that he was scared and really didn't want to go there. He was so sensitive, he must have been picking up on subtle things in my facial expressions and body language I wasn't even aware of.
It might be enough to make up for the fact I'm planning trips to the V E T. I have to spell it out because they know the word. Just annual checkups and all that good stuff, but they'll still hate me for a while after.
Eury, I'm OK with them chewing on the plants. I'm growing them for them, after all. As long as they don't sick from it, then they can chew on them all they want. They're strictly indoor only cats, so it might be another source of enrichment for them.
Eury, I have a couple catnip seed packs. I have heard that I can grow them indoors (which is what my landlord prefers since she doesn't want it taking over the yard) but I'm a little apprehensive about doing so around my cats. What is your experience with this?
