I know, but it still must have been that often from the start (in favourable conditions) since that's how the first calendars evolved. And I agree that it would help with overpopulation if it wasn't that frequent. Especially since we can't just reabsorb pregnancies like so many other mammals and they are hard to get rid of once they happen. So if they could only happen once every 6 months that sounds like a blessing!
yep, even though I'm mostly rid of it now I think that once a month is WAY too often and that evolution needs to rethink that design. Every couple of months would be enough.
