@pheezy, thank you! 😊 It is an interesting story as I had been begging my Mom to get a cat for awhile and then we did a trial on him and I loved him, but my Mom made me return him. However, I won her over and got to bring him home forever.
@Pheezy, his foster has him on a senior diet which is high calorie and he could eat however much he wanted when he wanted so when I adopted him he was slightly overweight and then gained more when I put him on purina pro plan.
If you're using a weight loss marketed food that usually means it's less calories per serving which means they'd need to be fed more. Swapping to a non-weight loss food means same amount or even less would give them more calories
He was on a weight loss diet so I am trying to figure out if he needs to go onto weight management now instead of weight loss and therefore get fed more.
12lbs doesn't sound overweight, that sounds okay especially for a domestic longhair. A look over by a vet or a comparison at home to a chart will be way more accurate but he sounds okay
