Revel,
They just kinda, grow. Burmese pythons especially, oh my gosh

@Whiskey, that is why I am mostly leaning towards a corn snake.

I'm always a bit biased towards corn snakes lol Every one I've met has been very curious and bold whereas (in my experience) ball pythons have been been a bit more shy and reclusive

@Versa, dang. I have held some adult males, but I never realized they could get THAT big. I should have around $3,800 saved by that time and would be graduating within a couple months so it should work out! This is money set aside after caring for Oliver too. Depending on how he fares it may take me longer to save up.

Revel,
Only thing to remember about ball pythons is that they can easily get MUCH bigger than corn snakes. When I was a little kid, my mother owned a python who ended up big enough to eat rabbits. So you've gotta remember food supplies and veterinary fees <3

@Versa, aww. =( But your bird house is so nice! It has everything a bird could want!

I'm nervous the bluebirds I was watching won't come back. I haven't seen them since the snow started.

@Versa, my goal is to have enough money saved by December or January. Can't decide between a corn snake or ball python though!

Revel,
As long as it gets enough care, which with you I'm sure it will- you can realistically get just about any reptile that interests you. :)

@Versa, while researching them there was a lot of mixed info about the correct substrate. They are cute, but I think I would prefer to get a snake instead because they interest me more.

Revel,
A mix of 70% top soil (no added fertilizers or anything) and 30% play sand. It's the only thing safe enough, but they must always be fed within a bowl or from tongs while over substrate to avoid ingesting of it

@Versa, what kind of substrate do you use for your leo?

My Moth Experience happened at the same time I wound up hospitalized for several weeks so the poor little guys didn't get enough humidity while they were pupating. I've been thinking about trying again down the line since I still have all the supplies lol

It was. But they're amazing moths. They pollinate further than even the bees to. Will always recommend attempting to raise them when they get too big, excellent for someone else's garden when you set it free in yours.

Revel,
When it comes to leos, it highly depends on the personality. I had a few that were scared, I had one that was defensive (made me bleed once). And I've had multiple that have been exceedingly friendly. I've rescued and rehomed all but one, who is my blind lady.
