oh that's line editing, athena, when you appraoch each individual line and word. usually when a story is in the earlier drafts you want to do developmental editing, where you're critiquing the bigger picture stuff (plot, pacing, character development, etc). Line/proofreading comes last
I can be gentler lol I just might miss some things. I also like to color code when editing. Ex. everything marked in blue is punctuation, everything marked in green is word choice
