Void I don't think the point is that what they're doing is ok or not abuse. The point is we should be more hesitant to condemn someone who is isolated from the outside world and can only go off of what they've been taught.
Void The objective fact of animal welfare existing is indeed a thing. But when humans attempt to enforce rules regarding what they see as appropriate animal welfare, opinion enters. There will always be angry people.
Void, To be fair, many people call completely sensible livestock management "abuse". I certainly think that what the Amish do is abuse, but they don't believe it is. I'm sure that many people would tell me I abused my livestock back home by keeping them confined the way that they were, but of course I don't believe it is. And there are farmers who can't maintain their farms without getting rid of stragglers and they are called abusers no matter how ethically their animals are cared for and disposed of. When it comes to opinions, animal abuse is not an absolute.
