Also, I doubt most horses that are pasture pets are getting regular maintenance like teeth floating and farrier work, at least in my experience that is the case.
A family I know who doesn't ride have had their horses for years and just can't physically ride anymore. A few others around here just like the companionship
Yeah that happens SO much around here, Hummer! One neighbor has two mules and two horses and they just live in the pasture, the one across the way has three and they just sit.. breaks my heart lol
It baffles my mind that people own horses, but don't own them. Had a conversation with a girl about horses and I told her I want to own one and she said she does, I asked her she rides and she gave me a weird look and said no.
