Revel, I do know it is a bit different, for sure. Strange that they blame it on bipolar, though. I have downright rejected most medications except a mild one to get my anxiety under control, under the promise it would not affect my personality. I will not be accepting bipolar as an answer, much less accepting a medication for it.
@Versa, I have no doubt you are right, but for some reason providers prefer diagnosing women with that rather than autism. The tests used to diagnosis autism are based on boys and and females manifest autism very differently than men.
The thing is, I do not seem to fit bipolar in the slightest. I do not get phases of depression throughout one month and fine the next. I do not have outbursts of emotion. I'm just anxious of people the vast majority of time, and struggle speaking verbally. Bipolar doesn't seem to fit.
Keep in mind it is hard to get an autism diagnosis as a female. I am part of a women only autistic Facebook group and a lot of people have been diagnosed with bipolar when it was autism all along. I had a provider try that with me too.
The other thing to consider is that since I am genuinely afraid of people, being afraid or uncomfortable with touch could follow that same path. It could be a few things.
I've always wondered, as I do display some signs of it. But I don't like to self-diagnose. The only things I have been diagnosed with are social phobia, selective mutism, and ADHD. I have considered going through autism screening.
Unfortunately I just have no interest in guys. Like at all. I've always been a rather shy individual, and in my past relationships, I was never very interested in things such as hugs. I doubt I'd be comfortable ever having my own kid lol. But adopting? My heart has been set on giving a needy kid a home.
No idea. But hey, I'll gladly watch that baby. He's my future nephew.

Agreed. I want to be financially stable first, before I have kids. And I want to adopt some kids who are older, who have a harder time being adopted. It's expensive, but those kids deserve a loving, stable home too.
You know what? I never wanted my own kids, but several times I considered adopting. Perhaps I'll be a foster home instead, there's too many awful stories of kids being taken away from people doing awful things to them. I can't with humans anymore.
