Still not showing me where I said I use it for every little thing. Grasping at a strawman? No one asked me my method before the crop, just jumped to me not knowing how to use a crop.
I never use crop first unless I feel it is becoming a game to them. Cybastian, the red head sometimes starts making it into a game. So I will go over it a few times and use crop immediately, then go back and see if he will do it without. He used to have to use spurs but me and barn owner have got him off spurs and onto crop and have decreased crop use. But oh wait I use crop every time a horse acts up a little right rightÂ… carry on
Where did I say when they act up a little? If a horse is not listening you do have to get sterner with your communication, they act up, I apply pressure with legs and heels, add a kick, still not listening? Pop. But oh wait you did not ask me how I ask first did you?
Lexie, my show lease (weird to say that now 😁) is a more difficult horse. She tests, all the time, every day. She can be frustrating as fuck to ride. But once you hit the rhythm it is glorious
I have learned more in the past year at this show barn than anywhere else I have ridden. I can keep a seat now, and can ride more difficult horses like that chestnut I showed there. I can use spurs and crops appropriately for communication and know the difference between bits and what to use when. I have become a better rider here.
My mare was tiny, technically a pony, but she could GO GO GO forever. When we approached a hill, she would say, "Oh, that thing? I got this!" She would power up that hill like she was specially made for the task. Downhill? Hold on! She would run down it like the horse in the Man From Snowy River if I let her! She was too much horse for me but I loved her!
