I have been preserving embryos from my retiring girls as well but it seems so far they all had living foals before. I WILL need to go through my embryo list now however to see if any others are at risk and then use them soon
I remember that I once asked in chat if anyone knows what happens to embryos from mares who die without living foals and people didn't know the answer. But I thought it will bee just like with stallions that the embryo prevents her from being deleted
Damn that's odd. I thought one of the reasons for creating an embryo (aside from multiple offspring/ year/ mare) was to be able to store them for the future. It'd make more sense if you could store them indefinitely since you can just breed the mare if she's alive XD
Yep, I saw that the embryo list showed the stallions name but then it was x and blank. On the 'destroy embryos' dropdown i could find the mother's name still and even on the breeding page I DID find it, but when I tried to implant it I got an error message saying invalid pairing'or something like that
I don't even know where to post that as a PSA for someone who might want to preserve some of their mare's embryos. Because straws stay even if the horse is a gelding or doesn't have any other offspring. At least I think
I just had to destroy two embryos because the mum died without offspring and they became unuseable. Good to know, though I wish I had found that out before wasting 30k.
