Try making the edges of the hooves disappear into the grass. Right now, it looks like the horse is trotting on grass patterned concrete.

Yes it looks more like the the horse is part of the image

You could make the hair that you have drawn on thinner so they look more natural, in the tail especially they are quite thick and they donÂ’t taper at the end like normal hair does.
Still a very good piece though :)

After you finish the markings, use the smudging tool at about 50% with a small soft brush (around 2px) then go along the side of the marking pulling in an out slightly. It will make the marking look more blended into the horse instead of a sudden stop/beginning. Also the mane by the cheek looks short, I'd suggest making it slightly longer. Other than that, very nice :D
