I have experimented with some things...and have found a body prep method I really like! But I want your guy's feedback on it, since HEE is very helpful :) *NOTE* It's supposed to look all smudgy and the smudge is supposed to be evident, that's why I like it in a way

Okay, I absolutely love artists who do it this way, it takes a whole new perspective and I love it!

It makes it look like the horse was painted by hand, I like it.

Agreed. I would go in with the paint tool and color match to the horse's neck. I would then go draw inbetween the hair strands so that it does not look like two different pieces mashed together. It'll help it look more cohesive to draw in the individual strands. I'd also add individual strands to the forelock. Both need more contrast.

Thanks! I rushed and forgot the shadow because I got distracted by the background I usually go with a shadow beneath the mane and forelock, should I do something about that too?

I love the color and brush strokes on the body and face! The different color of strokes give it some nice shading and shadows. The pink on the nose also gives it a very realistic semblance. I do think the mane needs some work and I agree with Gold Ridge that the mane does seem cutoff. It doesn't match the realisim of the body. But great work! I would totally buy art from you in this style! Edited at May 18, 2020 09:43 PM by Evening Star Riding

I'll try to write something better later, but for now just looking at it briefly, the mane looks a bit flat and unnatural. It's a great start though! Also with the main towards the end of it it abruptly ends and looks too clean of a cut, if you know what I mean. Add some flow to the mane in general. It doesn't mean it can't be straight, just make it a bit more natural :) Edited at May 19, 2020 01:17 AM by Shadow Woods

First of all it looks great! Try and make the cut more round, horses naturally have quite a round shape. The eyes look awesome but I'd probably try adding an iris. Try adding flyaways and a shadow for the mane. That's all, the background looks really nice too! Edited at May 19, 2020 07:50 AM by Moonglade Manor
