Lately I've been losing my art motivation. On top of that I'm kind of running out of ideas. I've been doing some form of art since I could walk and I've never before run out of ideas. There was actually a few times within the past few weeks when I considered closing my shop because I had absolutely no ideas for pieces. I haven't enjoyed doing commissions lately and I'm not sure why. I kind of feel restricted when I do art shop commissions, even with free rein orders. I guess I'm afraid the customer won't be satisfied or something. I've found that I really enjoy doing premades because I can just let my mind run wild without having to worry about something not being right. That is, if I can even think of a half decent idea. I feel like I'm constantly repeating the same theme/overall feel of my pieces. So with that being said, I need you people of HEE to give me some art ideas. I'd like to stick with horses though, I've never really been into doing art of other animals. And also tell me what you would do if yo were in my position. I'm stuck in an art block and I can't get out ;-; Thanks in advance. Edited at June 23, 2020 12:33 PM by Emerald Eventing

First things first, if you are feeling unmotiviated in doing shop orders or art in general, it's okay to take a break from it! No one will ever judge you because every artist has these times! If I was in an art block, I would a) take a break from art for a few days, weeks, months (or until whenever you feel like arting). b) close up shop after finishing current shop comissions or telling them that orders may take longer; I'm sure everyone will understand (I understand art blocks because I've been in too many...) c) Find other hobbies!! When I was in an art block, I would binge shows with my family and friends (my state is quartined so just my family for now), watch and listen to music, and take walks!! (depends on where you live; we have to wear a mask to go outside). Ideas? Hmmm..I'm not creative but here goes.. 1) Red Roan Arabian in Lavender Field 2) This one is my favorite; A golden unicorn (add wings if you want and feel up to) flying in the skies. Will add more ideas. Edited at June 23, 2020 10:56 AM by Moon Shadow Ranch

I feel you. Art blocks suck :/ However I find that drawing in a different medium (traditional, freehand) helps! That's what I'm doing instead of commissions 0-0 *shhh* But what if you try animals? Such as: - #1 - A panda, (sitting on its butt/sitting up, perhaps?) in a calming bamboo forest. Maybe there's a small gap and the sun is shining in too? Maybe it's eating bamboo? - #2 - Fish! Literally just fish. A coral reef maybe? It should be super colorful too, lots of different species. Maybe a shark or dolphin in the background? - Ill add more if I can think of some. Trying to give you ideas that don't involve horses, since maybe it'll help you with inspiration :)

I feel you, I'm currently going through that right now. I just tell my head to shut up and do the art anyways. I made several pieces that turned out pretty good because of it. Although I highly recommend not doing that, for some people like me it can really help. Anyways onto art ideas lol -Puzzle horse, it's made of puzzle pieces and the mane and tail are like flying away pieces -A horse trapped in an object, I made one in an amber piece it was really fun and cool to do, highly recommend it -A horse in the snow looking all stoic and stuff -A hippocampus horse would also sound like a lot of fun to make plus it could get your creative gears turning -A horse emerging from a dark gloomy cave? Those are some ideas, hope something gives you some inspiration! Edited at June 23, 2020 10:57 AM by Spirtasi Whims

Yikes, art block. Sorry bout that man :( here's a couple tips and tricks from my years of being a terrible artist: -draw freehand, or if you have already drawn freehand, maybe try out different supplies like pastels or chalk -find an art challenge on Pinterest, instagram, Twitter, etc that you like and just do all the ones you find interesting. It could be as simple as your favorite food, or it could be difficult, like drawing a forest with every type of animal -take a break! It could take up to a couple days to a couple months to get back into the groove of things. These sound so cliche, but they work! -go outside and sit in a tree, maybe in a park, or in your own backyard. I found one of the easiest things to help get over artblock is to go to a drag park and draw someone's dog. Maybe set up a little stand and tell some drawings for 10 cents a piece! (that was a titanic reference >:) -maybe find a movie poster you like and draw it! Some interesting ones i recommend (6 Underground, The Wolf of Wall Street, Dunkirk) -pick your favorite actor/actress and draw them in different movies! For example, since mine is Leonardo DiCaprio, you would draw him in titanic, body of lies, Romeo and Juliet etc. -pick you favorite band and draw their logo! Or try to find a random band youve never heard of and draw a band member -write a story and draw your OC's! -draw! Sounds dumb, but just sit down and make yourself draw. Make little doodles, or try to make an apple look like it's coming off the page. Possibilities are endless *technically* but art block sucks ass HARD hope these helped cheers!
