hi! also sorry if this is supposed to be in another forum topic, i was confused on where to put this question." i'm trying to get very good at art, but i have 2 choices my parents gave me- its either to do art on a computer, or an ipad- which would be a good option to do custom art on, i'm 50% good on both devices, but what do YOU recommend? also is there any good apps to use for custom art? i've heard about ibispaintX but i never had the chance to take a look, iv'e also heard about Sketchpad.io- i have tried that out and i don't really like it that much xD is ibispaint also a good art app compared to ibispaintX? any advice would be wonderful, thanks! I would suggest using a computer, as you have more program options. I use photoshop. Its 10$/month. If you are looking for a free program Gimp is the comparable free version.

I reccomend using a computer or laptop ( I use a computer myself). Like Jello said, there are more options. I also use photoshop, and depending on what you are looking for you can pick and choose between the plans they have. I also highly reccomend Gimp if you arent looking to have an annual monthly payment for photoshop. Ibis Paint X I belive is only compatable with phones and ipads.. I could be wrong but I belive that is how it is. If you decide to go with a computer or laptop I HIGHLY RECCOMEND getting yourself a drawing tablet, trying to draw fine details, hair, and even doing body prep on your image is very difficult. I hope this helps! :D

I'd back that up and say definitely go with gimp, especially if you'd rather use a computer. Personally I think it has more options and is much easier to deal with files on, compared with an iPad, though I don't have much experience with ibispaint etc. Gimp is pretty similar to photoshop, and it's free, making it great to start out with. You can always upgrade to photoshop/another program later on, if you find art is your thing. While doing art with a mouse on a computer definitely has its challenges, it is still very possible with practice and I wouldn't recommend buying a drawing tablet until you discover art is something you really want to peruse. I'd be happy to help you get an introduction to gimp if you'd like, especially with things such as drawing hair, which I've found a good technique for if you use a mouse.

Sketchpad.io is no good. I used that when I very first started and ditched it as soon as I could. Photoshop is a great way to go, especially if you're looking to really get into art. If you ever need Ibis Paint tips though, my pm's are always open :)
