Recoloring on IbisPaintX

Just posting to see how others recolor on Ibis Paint X. I've followed Zombs tutorial for some of the lighter coats, but seem to be having trouble recoloring from a grayscale to a dark coat (like a darker bay, black, or darker chestnuts). Does anyone have any tips or tutorials for those coat colors?
