https://orig00.deviantart.net/787e/f/2017/338/4/1/horse_in_water__by_midholly-dbvryz7.png I recently did this piece and was needing some critique. As you can see manes are my struggle :) And also how much would be a good start price and all bid if I were to auction it?

I think the mane is the best part, the body is too smoothed out to the point has no definition. The background is also too blurred in my opinion. I would suggest that if you're going to auction it that it be the size of an avatar, not rectangular like it is :)

Perhaps more dodging/burning on the horse to give it shadows and highlights. The hair looks awesome. Also maybe the effect of water splashing in the stream as a trot would create quite a disruption on the surface. Maybe a reflection? Those can be a pain to do though

Okay thank you for these tips of course size will be ajusted if I auction it and will definitely not blur the backroad so much next time and less smudging on the body as well 😀 I think I might give it a bit of a reflection as I felt like it needed something more in the water as well

Also, too many sharp corners on the limbs. I would try practicing cutting with a size 4 eraser.
Maybe add a super distorted reflection, and please, put the back right hoof on? Edited at December 4, 2017 11:09 PM by Darkin
