I noticed a few days ago that this girl is near leopard, but the near is missing from her color description. https://horseeden.com/horse.php?id=34478914This issue was also brought up in chat by another player who was confused why their foal, who had one of the other near leopard variations, wasn't called that. Older horses with the patterns still have near in their color description.

That just says you can reroll a normal leopard to get a near leopard :)

Well, yes, leopards can be rerolled into near leopards and vice versa. Eyrie's foal has the same pattern as the new Near Leopard in the news anouncement, and yet the foal, and all the other horses I have seen with that pattern, have been listed as Leopard.

I am pretty sure it is because of her varnish: There are no "varnish near leopards" in the game as much as I know - just "near leopards" or "varnish leopards", even if they show the near leopard + varnish pattern

Kuewi I looked that up in horse search and there are plenty of older varnish near leopards in game. Also no near leopards period under four show up in horse search, so I'm pretty sure it's a bug. Interestingly enough, the near fewspot was released in late February, around the timeframe this probably happened, so the bug might be linked to that. Well for the second to last picture you have an age requirement set. I searched up near leopard with no other requirements and plenty showed up

Cali that's my point. I knew older horses still have near leopard in their description, so it follows that the bug is only affecting horses born after it started. There aren't any horses under 4 that the game describes as near leopard, but plenty 4 and up, so it probably started mid to late February. Around when near fewspot was released.
