As long as theres proper husbandry I've rarely ever have food rejected. Only when pre or during shedding do they refuse eating.

Two, he was mostly on fresh kill but the suppler quit due to heal issues and he had a emergency frozen in the past. Today was to get him on frozen thawed permanently, but hes super food motivated, he gets fed again in 7 days

Yes, I unfortunately ran into the same issue today. In my inventory I currently have both. I was exploring with my WC boy and wanted to boost his morale a bit, but couldn't feed the yummy treats to him.
