grant it those next two were more of an attempt at color since I had no faith in actual promising matches and didnt want to waste them lol

I knew AD was going to be doodoo when my first match came out EEE... I chose not to breed for a few days because I was busy anyway, my next two were PPP XD I have yet to breed on any other account since then X.X

This RO has been the worst I've had in terms of freshie production (which given that they're what I enter into my futurities is a bit annoying), but it's STILL kicked the arse of my AD project
MC Ace

Yep doesnÂ’t matter what kind of AD year I have itÂ’s always a good SD year lol
Minerva
01:42:10 Min
I definitely get more satisfaction from SD than AD. Plus it's easier to hand show them as well as there's only 1 day of actually looking at bars needed
MC Ace

Nice! RID were/ are still really mean to me. I cannot for the life of me to get even SD RID working. So I stuck it out with PONs and WBs

But I have a slight suspicion that 221 means a very different thing in WB and RID.

Hope these guys show me at least something decent, like W3 221

RID are still a long way to go. I'm gonna buy a separate barn for WB soon

Ru is absolutely correct. SD are too cool for school

I noticed that E mares can produce good foals if they show W3. I've had multiple good stallions this way

I track E mares somewhat and W horses closer

Ohh ok, keeping track of so many seems like a lot of work to me

Nah, it's much easier than AD, and cheap. My whole RO costs around 150k since I use my own stallions and mares.

Oh my gosh I just got the best valentine *-* someone hand drew a joker horse for me and sent it in their card 🥰

Fingers crossed Ru, SD seems tough to me >,<

So I am planning on getting a new horse. But the problem is is that we have not been able to find one. I think our max spending limit is like 4k. I personally want a QH mare. But I am open to suggestions on other breeds as well.

What riding discipline(s) do you do? How experienced with horses and riding are you? Do you have a trainer you could ask for suitable breed suggestions?

I ride Western. I have quite a bit of experience. I have been around horses for a long time. (since I was a baby) And no I do not have a trainer.

You might want to rethink the mare part of it. A mare comes in heat every month, and unless you get an EXCELLENTLY trained one, she'll be a handful when she's in. Just my two cents! Lol, congrats on getting a horse. <3
Also, if you run across a draft cross, those are usually extremely intelligent and more sturdy and easier keepers than a normal QH.

As long as the mare does not act mareish you’ll be fine, once you gain their respect they’ll follow you wherever. My mare will follow me anywhere with no lead rope. As far as QH not being an easy keeper that’s false my mare gets fat on air I also know about 20 others that are the same way, as long it’s not a legit half TB QH you’ll be okay

I agree with Bel on both accounts. I have a 1.5 year old AQHA stallion who is extremely high energy and playful and he stays fat on almost exclusively quality pasture. As for the mare comments, horses are much more than their respective genders. It is more than possible to get an aggressive gelding, a sweet as pie mare, or a docile and obedient stallion. Yes, there are tendencies, but that in no way is the concrete way it ALWAYS is. It is very dependent on the individual personality of the horse!

I also paid 800 for my mare as a 5 yr old and sheÂ’s kid broke, I can chase cows, cut cows/ horses on her. I can rope on her and IÂ’ve trained her to barrel race. When she comes into heat you canÂ’t even tell because her demeanor never changes. SheÂ’s always level headed and focused on her job.

I am one of those people who just cant stand to ride Geldings! I can deal with the inheat aspect, but when you have a good mare they try and try.

It will help to know what you want this mare for? An older horse is always a good bet, you tend to get more training for your money. Good luck on your search!
