So there is this Indian parade coming up on August 15th and I will be riding my mare in it. She apparently is green broke though, she doesnt really know anything. We rescued her from a kill lot last year and we couldnt ride her for awhile because she was so skinny. Once we were able to ride her thats when we found out she needed more training.
Now a few months later we found out she was a few months pregnant and we only had a few months to ride her before she was too pregnant to ride. Apparently this takes time and i wasnt able to be around with my grandma as much because my mom and her were apparently in an arguement at the time but they are good now.
So the thing wrong with my mare is, is when you nudge her into a walk she will just stand there and do nothing. But, she knows how to back up I just dont know how she doesnt know how to go forward. Is it laziness or she just doesnt know? Anyways I rode her this morning and she is still the same way, the harder I nudge her she still wont move, yet she will back up when I ask her to.
Please can someone give me advice or something on this, I know it takes time but I really need her to be ready by August 15th for the parade. Edited at June 23, 2018 02:31 PM by ~Bluepoint Manor~

Check out this trainer. I personally have success with his method and maybe it will work for you and your horse. https://www.youtube.com/user/DUHorseman

I have the same issue with one my gelding. I used a crop on him, just tapping his shoulder. It worked okay, after a few times he got the message and walked when I nudged him. Edited at June 25, 2018 09:50 AM by Lucky Bucky Barns
