Breaking in new boots? Tips & Help needed August 26, 2018 09:10 PM

So I have a show coming up in about 4 weeks and I just realized that I can't fit into my old pair of tall english riding boots. I bought a new pair this past weekend and desperately need help with breaking them in before it's time for the show. So far I have rode in them once and I walk around the house in them but so far it's going pretty slow.

If anyone has a suggestion or tips for me please let me know! They are very much appreciated!

I have always heard to put on damp socks and wear them around until the socks are dry/you absolutely cannot take wearing wet socks anymore haha! That way it gets the leather pliable and formed to your foot.

Makes sense, that's a new one I've never heard before. I may have to try that idea out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have heard of this as well I just haven't had the courage to try it. Some ways sound awfully weird but work well. I'll have to actually try this. Thanks!

What I did to break mine in was wear them around the house (brand new so they are clean) 24/7 with Band-Aids until I could bare them for long periods of time

I get out in the mud with mine. Also the hair dryer thing works, and if they need to be bigger, heat/wet them then stuff wads of newspaper in. Leave overnight. Should stretch it some.

What I do works wonders and makes even small boots usually fit like charm.

Soak your boots (with them on with socks on and all) and wear then till there dry or blow dry them to speed it up =)

Take a little hike! Any trails near you? I live on a hill and I even walk to and from my house, up and down the hill.

What we normally do is fill the bathtub up and wear a pair of fluffy socks, dunk the boots in the bath while you're wearing them until they are completely soaked and then wear them around until they are completely dry.
