My horse has a really thin mane (probably because he's half mustang) and I wanted to see if anyone has any product suggestions for growing a thicker and healthy mane. I'd prefer something I can put into his mane rather than supplements or pellets.

EQyss Mega-Tek Rebuilder! Use this right on the crest, and massage it in! It helps condition and strenghten the mane that is already grown to prevent breakage, and encourages growth of new hair.

MTG is great. It's a liquid you put right on their mane and tail. I've always seen amazing results with it :)

What I've done in the past (with tails, too) is wash it like every other week with olive oil. Work the oil in really well down to the crest (I'll use a big tooth comb to keep hair where it's supposed to be as I work my way down the neck). Let it sit for a bit then wash it out with shampoo, sometimes twice, then put in some conditioner.

Can you just leave the product in, or do you have to wash it out?

When I was trying to grow out my Arab's mane, I made sure to wash it every other week and massaged Pink Oil into her roots, and coconut oil into the rest. These can be left in, but Pink Oil can encourage sunburn since it's on the skin, and coconut oil can be yummy for pasturemates. Sleezies are going to be helpful. Side note, being careful with how you detangle and braid can really have a lot to do with mane thickness. Combing and handpicking clean, dry hair and putting it in small braids that are loose at the top and don't get too close to the bottom will keep hair from being pulled out or damaged, so your new mane growth will make more of a difference.

There is a green Sullivan brand shampoo for show cattle/goats that works great to thicken and grow out hair. You bath them with it once or twice a week. A lot of the cow show people I know swear by that stuff, and they always have cattle with ridiculously long and thick hair.
