Honestly, I typically geld anything EEE and under lol
But you can always buy cheap 2yo stallions, geld, and free range. You get profit that way, and more if you have a fr quest

It doesn't. The game just removes her from breeding anf you have to put her back up afterwards

I hate that when you use a mares embryo it removes her from public brood. I just realized my WWW was not on the market at all this month

For school I have to build a business plan for a hypothetical (or maybe not) rehab facility. I am doing all my research from other rehab facilities but nothing beats ideas from actual horse owners so I branching out to a few other places, here being one of them

If individual turnout was an option what size would you like?

What services would you like offered? Beamer? Back on track? Solariums? Indoor water treadmill? Therapy vibration plate?

Anything else as a horse owner would you be looking for in a facility? Either as a rehab case or just a "spa get away" for your horse?

Thank you!

So as a person who sees a lot of horses that need extensive rehab, we turn each horse out with other horses. However if the horse has special needs for example is skinny or needs a lot of extra feed we separate them. As for size at least 1 acre per horse is prefered. round bales 24/7 if possible. Massage therapy can be really good for horses.

Thank you! I feel like I just leaned into individual turn out as that is what is most common in my area for these types of things. But I do like the idea of tossing in group turnout for horses that don't really need individual areas. And I am currently three months into a 9 month massage course so yeah, this whole project is based around massage for rehab. We do need to think of other modalities for healing horses and other people we would like to have on our team like farriers and vets

Check out The Humble Hoof - Rehabilitation Center. She has a great podcast and so much information/knowledge about everything hoof related.

She also uses a Track System (Paddock Paradise) to help horses with feet problems. There's a lot of research on the benefits to having a track system with rehabilitation situations. It offers movement, various terrains, safe herd dynamics, various browse/forage options.

It's easy to go through a Catalog and circle all of the awesomely expensive Therapeutic Options - but that's not always reasonable expenses for a business.

I had to do a Business Plan for my Equine Business class in college. Mine was on a youth therapeutic equestrian center.

Some Therapies:
- Thera-Tree by Tad Coffin Tech
- Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMF)
- Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS)
- Chirporactor
- Acupuncture/Acupressure
- Osteopathic
- Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Reiki
- Hyperbaric Oxygenation
- Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)
- Ultrasound
- Streching and Strengthening Program
- Massage Manipulation/ Body Work
- Therapeutic Taping/ Kinesiology Tape
- Heat / Cold
- Light (Low-light laser, Infrared)
- Water (Treadmill, Pool [round or straight])
- Aromatherapy / Essential Oils / Herbs
- Horse / Hot Walker
- Resistance Band Exercises
- Boredom Relief
- Sound / Music
- Nutrition
- Sure Foot Balance Pads
- Stem Cell Treatments
- Injectable Medications
- Salt Room

What types of rehabilitation cases are you expecting/will treat?
- Leg injuries (Broken Bones?)
- Muscle, Tendon/Ligament Strains
- Lacerations, Punctures
- Surgery Recovery (Colic, Cryptorchid)
- Illnesses? Recovery after an illness - will you have a Quarantine/Isolation Barn? Or accept those that are currently sick? Or recently been sick?
- Heaves, Wobblers, Stifle Problems, Kissing Spine
- Extremely Stressed Horses? Strerotypic Behaviors (Cribbing, Self Mutalating)
- Hoof problems - corrective shoeing, Abscesses, Glue-on Shoes, Hoof Boots

What won't you do?
- Do you Diagnos or only Treat?
- Will you train or work with the horse?
- If a horse had trauma in a trailer and was injured - would you rehab the injury AND work the horse through the trauma associated with trailering?
- What if the Rider/Owner is part of the Problem? Do you 'Rehab' People too? (The rider is crooked, causing the horse to be crooked - do you assess the Rider and/or Handler?)

What's an average stay?

How many therapies do the horses get a day?

Who will you have on staff? Will you be affiliated with an Equine Hospital/Clinic/University?

I was recently looking for a rehab facillity for my 5yr old who hurt his stifle. I'll put a list below of what I looked for :) Unfortunately we never found one because he had to be retired

- Experienced workers, he was super high energy on stall rest
- full care rehab board included administering meds, hand walking, cold hosing, wrapping legs, managing farrier/vet care
- small (about the size of 2-3 stalls put together) individual paddocks with safe fencing for introducing horses back to turnout. After being cleared for turnout, I'd like to see larger paddocks. The ideal situation would have been a tiny paddock attached to his stall that could've been opened for an hour or so a day after he was allowed to start turnout.
- associated vet/farrier on call for emergencies
- big/airy stalls, 24/7 hay, deep shavings for injured horses

Therapies I looked for:
- water treadmill
- I love the idea of back on track but I've always had to provide it myself if I want my horse to use it
- PEMF
- chiropractor and massage/body work
