Basic Information

  • Name: Seraphina "Sera" Ashborne
  • Age: 23
  • Gender: Female
  • Class/Occupation: Fire-Wielder / Soldier
  • Alignment: Neutral Good (torn between duty and her desire for peace)
  • Background: Soldier in a Warring Faction, renowned for her destructive fire magic.

Appearance

  • Height: 5'7"
  • Weight: 135 lbs
  • Hair: Short, choppy red hair, often charred at the ends, as if burned by the very flames she wields.
  • Eyes: Gold, with a flicker of orange when her emotions run high or when she's using her magic.
  • Skin: Tanned and scarred from years of combat and exposure to intense heat. There's a faint, burn-like mark across her left wrist, a reminder of a mission gone wrong.
  • Build: Slim but muscular, hardened by years of physical training and constant battle. She's quick and deadly, with a fierce, intimidating presence.
  • Clothing/Armor: A tattered uniform from the military faction she serves, marked with scorch marks and battle damage. Wears a simple necklace with a small, cracked pendant—a gift from her family before they were lost to the war.

Personality

  • Traits:

    • Ruthless: Known for her ability to decimate villages and entire platoons with her fire magic. She has no hesitation when it comes to following orders, even if it means causing suffering.
    • Haunted: The destruction she’s caused weighs heavily on her soul. She often experiences guilt, nightmares, and a sense of emptiness that no amount of victory can fill.
    • Stoic: Outside of battle, she is reserved and emotionally distant. She rarely speaks of her past, keeping others at arm’s length.
    • Resilient: Her will to survive is unbreakable. She pushes through physical and emotional pain, holding onto the belief that she has a purpose.
    • Protective: Despite her hardened exterior, she feels a deep, often conflicting desire to protect others—particularly the healer, who is the only one who sees through her walls.
    • Conflicted: Struggling with her role as a weapon of war, and torn between the duties imposed on her and the yearning for peace and a better life.
  • Flaws:

    • Self-destructive: Often sacrifices her own well-being for the sake of the mission, refusing to accept help or comfort from others.
    • Trust Issues: Having been betrayed by those she once trusted, Sera is cautious about opening up, especially to those outside her military circle.
    • Detached: Her detachment from her emotions can sometimes manifest as coldness or insensitivity toward others, especially those she feels she cannot protect.

Abilities & Skills

  • Fire Magic:

    • Blazing Fury: A powerful, wide-reaching wave of fire that can incinerate entire villages and wipe out platoons of enemies in one sweep. It’s her signature move, though she can no longer use it without feeling overwhelming guilt.
    • Inferno Strike: A close-range attack where Sera surrounds herself with flames and rushes at her opponent, dealing both physical and magical damage.
    • Scorched Earth: A tactical ability where she can set the battlefield alight, turning the terrain into a dangerous, burning landscape that hinders enemy movements.
    • Heat Aura: She can raise the temperature around her, creating an oppressive, suffocating heat that weakens foes and causes them to tire more quickly.
    • Phoenix Rebirth: A rare and dangerous ability, when close to death, she can temporarily call upon the essence of fire to heal and revive herself, but it comes at a great cost to her health and psyche. It is a technique she loathes, as it reminds her of the lives she's taken.
  • Combat Skills:

    • Swordsmanship: Adept with a long, curved sword, Sera fights with a mixture of magic and physical precision.
    • Tactical Mind: She is a skilled strategist, capable of assessing a battlefield and adjusting her tactics accordingly. Her decisions are often cold and pragmatic, shaped by years of warfare.
    • Survival: Her years in the military have given her a solid understanding of surviving in harsh, war-torn environments, from wilderness to ruined cities.
  • Weaknesses:

    • Overuse of Magic: Overexerting her fire magic leaves her physically drained, making her vulnerable to attacks.
    • Emotional Turmoil: When confronted with her past or when dealing with personal conflict (especially related to the healer), her powers can become unpredictable and harder to control.

Backstory

Sera was born into a family with a long history of military service. When war engulfed her homeland, she was conscripted into the army at the age of 16, despite her reluctance. Her natural talent for fire magic was quickly recognized, and she was forced to become a weapon for the warring factions. Over the years, she earned a reputation for being an unstoppable force on the battlefield, capable of burning down entire villages in a single sweep. While her success as a soldier made her feared, it also isolated her emotionally, and she became a hollow vessel of destruction.

During a particularly devastating mission, Sera was gravely injured in an ambush. Her unit was decimated, and she was left on the brink of death.

The wind howled through the ruined landscape, carrying with it the acrid scent of ash and burnt flesh. Sera stood amidst the devastation, her golden eyes flickering with an orange hue, though it wasn't the flames around her that made them burn so brightly. No, it was the weight of the past—of the lives she had taken, the towns she had razed. With a sharp exhale, she pulled her blade from the charred remains of her latest victim, a twisted, burned figure she had once considered an ally.

Her uniform, once a proud testament to her rank, was torn and singed. Scorch marks marred the fabric, as if the flames had claimed her soul as their own. The pendant around her neck—a small, cracked charm of no particular value except the memories it carried—swung lightly with the movement of her head. It was a gift from her family before the war had taken them all, one by one. A reminder of a life long lost to the inferno.

She hadn’t chosen this path. In fact, she had tried to refuse it. But war had a way of breaking those who resisted. And in the end, it broke her as well.

Her body was lean, hardened by years of conflict and the brutal training that had shaped her into a weapon. Yet beneath her muscular frame, under the thick layers of scars and bruises, there was a vulnerability—a fracture in her heart that the flames could never heal.

She wiped the blood from her sword and looked toward the horizon, where the sun, half-hidden by smoke, seemed to offer no salvation.

Is this all I am now? she wondered. A force of destruction, a weapon with no purpose beyond burning the world around her.

But even in the deepest depths of her despair, there was still a spark—a flicker of hope that perhaps, one day, she could find peace. A life outside the endless cycle of war.

But first, she had to survive. First, she had to face the ghosts that haunted her every step. And somewhere within the confines of her heart, there was one person who might be able to help her find her way back—though Sera had yet to admit it to herself.

Sera clenched her sword tighter, the familiar heat rising around her as her emotions threatened to break free. I am more than this.

And for the first time in years, she believed it.

Finn ran around the bustling infirmary tent, tending to patients. Normal days weren't usually this busy, but a big battle just ended, and now the wounded were being carried back by the dozen. "Hey, Blue!" Zoya yelled from across the tent.
Finn's head popped right up and looked over at the girl. "What's up, Cranberry?" He asked, yelling back.
"This soldier got a puncture through his lung I don't have enough power to fix, mind taking this one?" Zoya yelled back.
"Sure thing, just lemme finish up with this patient," Finn yelled back.
Zoya nodded and muttered something to the soldier, probably a reassurance just to stay calm and that Finn would be over shortly.
Finn's hands were on a patient's arm that had been heavily burned, the blue glow from his healing powers peaking out around the seal of his hand on his patient's arm.
When the burn was healed up, Finn let go of their arm and checked, making sure he healed everything.
"Alright, you're good to go. Make sure to tell your commander where you were," Finn tells the soldier and the soldier nodded and got up, walking out of the tent.
Finn then made his way straight over to the patient Zoya had informed him about. He didn't bother greeting the patient as he was in shock and was focusing on breathing out of his one intact lung. Finn examined the puncture wound quickly before placing his hands on the wound, putting pressure on it, and his healing powers began to work their magic, the blue glow returning. The soldier gritted his teeth through the pain, and Finn felt a pang of sympathy for him.
"Its okay, almost done..." Finn reassured the soldier and he nodded in return.

The wind shifted again, carrying with it the scent of ash and the distant echo of a world that once was. Sera stood alone in the desolation, the blade still in her hand, its tip barely touching the scorched earth. Her golden eyes, flickering with an orange hue, glinted as she stared at the horizon, though the faint glimmer wasn’t from the sun, half-buried beneath a smothering layer of smoke.
The memories of what she had done, of who she had once been, gnawed at her like a relentless tide. Each step she took was a step farther away from the girl who had been full of promise, full of hope. That girl was gone, consumed by the war, by the fire.
She had not chosen this path. At first, she had fought it—tried to find some way, any way, to preserve her humanity. But the war had its own rules, its own demands, and Sera had learned them well. The world was not kind to those who hesitated. It broke them down, tore them apart, until they became something unrecognizable.
And in the end, she had become the very thing she had once despised.
Her uniform was a torn relic, the fabric singed and stained with the blood of comrades, enemies, and everything in between. Her pendant—a small, cracked charm—swung at her neck, barely clinging to life as it was. The memories attached to it, her family, her childhood, seemed so distant now, as though they belonged to someone else. Perhaps they did.
Sera’s hand tightened around her sword. The weight of it was familiar, comforting even, but it was also a reminder. She had wielded it to kill, to raze, to survive. Her grip had once been steady, unwavering. But now, it was shaky, hesitant.
And yet, still, she held it.
She had been a weapon. And the truth was, she wasn’t sure who she was without it. The thought of putting it down—the thought of stepping away from the fire, from the war—was almost as terrifying as continuing on the path she had forged.
Was it even possible to step away? To *leave* the fire behind? The question felt hollow, unanswered in the vast silence of the ruined world around her.
The landscape before her was a mirror of her own soul—charred, empty, endless. It stretched on, broken and twisted, until it was swallowed by the haze of smoke. It didn’t matter where she went. No matter how far she traveled, no matter how many enemies she fought, there was no escaping the wreckage of her past. No matter how much the war consumed her, it had never taken away the ghosts that lingered in her mind.
Sera didn’t know if there was anything left to salvage.
Maybe there never had been. Maybe this was the price she had to pay for the choices she had made, for the things she had done. The world had burned, and she had burned with it.
But there was something in the quiet now, something that had never been there before—the absence of pursuit, the absence of enemies. She could feel it in the stillness. The war had come to an end, but it had not been kind to those who survived. She was one of the last.
A shiver ran down her spine as the wind whispered through the ruins, carrying with it a strange emptiness, as though the world itself had given up.
*Is this all there is now?* she wondered. *Is this all I am?*
Sera glanced at her blade, her reflection warping in the bloodied metal.
She had come so far, done so much. She had once believed that if she could just survive, if she could just make it to the end, it would all make sense. That the war would stop, that the fires would cease. But that had been a lie.
Now, standing amidst the wreckage, she realized that there was no “end” to the war. There was only an endless chain of decisions, choices, consequences. The weight of them would never leave her, no matter how much she tried to outrun it.
*I can’t undo what I’ve done,* she thought, the thought heavy in her chest. *I can’t unmake the world.*
But maybe, just maybe, she could stop adding to the flames.
A breath escaped her lips, slow and steady, and for the first time in what felt like an eternity, she lowered her sword. Not in surrender, but in acceptance. It wasn’t a victory. It wasn’t a choice she could claim as triumph. But it was the only one left.

Finn kept his hands on the patient's wound, healing in the process. He turned around and looked over at Micheal.
"Hey, Double?" Finn calls over to Micheal.
Micheal turned around, his hands still on his patient as he healed them.
"Yeah?" he responded.
"Are there any more squads out?" Finn asked.
"57 and 98" Micheal replied.
Finn nodded. Sera was out there then.
Finn had had his eyes on Sera since the moment he'd saw her. Although, even though he found her extremely pretty, he did see the hurt in her eyes and how shielded she was from the rest of the work. Thats why Finn had never pursued her.
Finn would have, but it was quite obvious Sera didn't want to be messed with, and the conversations and interactions he had with her in the past, made that even more obvious. She wasn't the kindest either, but Finn could tell she had trauma, and was hurt. He wanted to help, but he knew better than to poke at old wounds.

The wind stung against Seraphina’s skin as she stood there, staring into the endless horizon of destruction. It was a quiet kind of devastation, one that seemed to stretch on forever, just like the war. She had always fought to survive. That had been the point, hadn’t it? Survival, survival, survival… But now, as she stood alone amidst the ashes, the weight of her choices settled deep into her bones. It was a kind of silence she hadn’t known before—the absence of enemies, the absence of anything to fight. Was this what it felt like to be the last one standing?
Her fingers tightened around the hilt of her blade, feeling the cool steel beneath her calloused hands. The weight of it was familiar, a constant companion in this endless journey of destruction. But something had changed. Maybe it had been the endless war, or maybe it had been the small sliver of realization that she had no purpose left to serve.
She hadn’t even noticed how far she’d drifted from everything—*everyone*—until now. Finn’s voice broke through the haze of her thoughts. “Hey, Double?” She didn’t look back at him, but the sound of his voice felt like a distant echo of a world she used to belong to. She could imagine him, all soft smiles and big eyes, always trying to help, trying to fix. She didn’t need fixing. She never had. She had been strong once. At least, she’d believed that she had.
But there was something about Finn. Maybe it was the kindness in his eyes, or the way he never gave up on those around him. It made her feel small in a way she wasn’t used to, made her wonder if there was still anything left to fight for.
*57 and 98.*
Seraphina’s mind flickered, connecting the dots. That meant she was out there somewhere. She’d never be found. Not now, not in this ruined world. There wasn’t anyone left who could bring her back from this, not even someone like Finn. He had a way of making people feel seen, making them feel like they were worth saving. But Seraphina was beyond saving. She had crossed that line long ago.
The wind shifted again, the familiar scent of smoke curling around her. She looked down at the cracked pendant at her chest, the small, lifeless trinket that had once belonged to someone who had a life ahead of her. A life full of love and light and laughter. She couldn’t remember that girl anymore. Not really. She was just a stranger now. The girl who believed in hope, who thought she could change the world. The girl who thought there was an end to the war.
But there was no end, was there?
Her grip on the sword loosened slightly as she exhaled a breath, feeling the sting of it in her lungs. *Maybe it’s time to stop fighting,* she thought, her reflection warping in the bloodied metal. *Maybe it’s time to put it down. But who would I be without it?*
For the first time in a long time, a strange sensation filled her chest—a quiet hope. Or maybe it was just the echo of what might have been. She glanced down at the sword again. Not in surrender, but in something else. Acceptance. The thought wasn’t comforting, but it was something. The idea that maybe, just maybe, there was another path.
But not now. Not yet.
For now, the world had nothing left to offer her, and she had nothing left to offer it. The only thing she could do was keep moving forward, one step at a time. Even if that meant standing still for a moment longer.
A gust of wind ruffled her hair, and she closed her eyes, letting the wind carry her thoughts away into the smoke.
Somewhere in the distance, Finn's voice still lingered.

Finn looked over at the doorway, only to see Sera standing there. He ached to walk over and talk to her, but he knew she didn't want to be bothered. But maybe she was injured and needed healing... Finn really, really wanted to go up to her now, but the healing process for his current patient was still in the process.
Finn bit his lip and willed the healing powers to work faster as time ticked by. He looked over his shoulder to glance at Zoya and Micheal. Both of them were busy with highly injured patients as well, so maybe he had a chance.
Finally, after what felt like forever, the healing process for his patient was done and Finn removed his hands.
"Alright sir, you're all good to go." Finn said to his patient before leaving him to go over to Sera.
Finn walked over to her smoothly and confidently, holding his head high, but with a softness and understanding in his eyes.
"Hello, Miss. Any injuries I can help you with?" Finn asked politely as he stopped in front of the girl.

Sera's gaze flickered to Finn as he approached, his presence a strange mix of comfort and discomfort. She had noticed his attention on her before, and part of her—despite herself—had hoped he'd come over. Not that she wanted to talk to him. Not like this. But now that he was here, standing before her with that quiet warmth in his eyes, something in her chest softened against her will.
She studied him for a moment. Finn never rushed. Always poised, always waiting for her to speak. It was the kind of patience that felt almost like an intrusion, though she wasn’t sure why it unsettled her. Her fingers traced the worn fabric of her sleeve, looking for something to focus on. Something that would steady her.
"I—" she started, her voice quieter than she intended, barely audible over the muffled sounds of the camp. She cleared her throat, trying again, but the words felt like they were stuck somewhere in her throat. "No injuries," she managed at last, her gaze meeting his briefly before falling away. She couldn’t hold it—couldn’t let him see anything more. "I'm fine."
Her heart thudded too loudly in her chest. She hated how he made her feel exposed, vulnerable, as if everything she’d built around herself could crumble at the slightest word, the smallest touch. It wasn't that she feared him—no, it was something else. The ache she couldn't name. The longing that threatened to tear through the walls she’d so carefully built.
