Sage hummed softly as she spoke, shrugging after a moment. "Well really everything is temporary," he pointed out, then immediately realized that probably wasn't the comfort she was looking for and wrinkled his nose with a sigh. "Although I'm pretty sure the doctor is immortal," he noted with a small snicker. He moved on though, after a moment, just squeezing her gently. "I know. I thought I'd lost you for a while too," he recalled, tipping his head slightly. "But we're still here, together, and that's all that matters."

Maris eyes widened at his first comment, momentarily panicking before shaking her head. No, not everything had to be temporary. She'd always love Sage, and the kids, and that wasn't temporary. But him being there, with them, was... and it was scaring her every moment she thought about it. She knew he was back now... but how long was that going to last for? Not long, she assumed. She felt her brows pinching, and that knot just tightened. "I... don't know what we would have done if we lost you, Sage," she whispered after a few moments, kind of keeping her gaze set on the plate of food.
