I for one was taught to always wear one no matter the horse... i mean yeah for showmanship i dont.... but thats like...i only ride my palomino and hes a sweetheart...

Most people at my barn don't wear a helmet. Unless they are under 18 because it is a rule at the barn or certain horses

The horses should be a bit more focused on, of course that can be done with different cuts though. I would work on your lighting, too. I would say emphasize the shape of the face as well, by drawing some darker lines around the cheek area on the horse. I really like the markings on both horses, and overall the piece fits together very well!
