I did work experience at a vet clinic in yr 10. They used to put tampons down the dogs throat when they'd have dental surgery to stop them from choking on water. I find it super cool how vets manage to use regular items in health care

Yeah the sugar draws out the moisture causing the edema and makes easier to get back in
