| this is my favourite retail story of mine. a customer came in after closing - Mon-Fri the deli closes at 8pm while the rest of the store closes at 9pm - and demands food. the deli was visibly closed, too. the lights were off and all the stuff in the case was covered in plastic, the seafood was put away, there were SIGNS UP ON THE DAMN CASE saying "we are closed go away". I politely tell this lady that we're closed and she proceeds to argue with me. I was at the end of a 9 hour shift and was beyond exhausted at that point, so I had little patience for her nonsense. we argued for about 5 minutes before she goes "how will you compensate me for this inconvenience" and I very loudly said "we won't! we're closed! it sucks to suck!" she goes to the manager on duty who's one of my closest friends to complain, and he goes "well... they *are* closed. it *does* suck to suck." |

| Have to chime in here, I worked for CVS. Had a drunk guy come in around closing, go to the restroom, and come out naked. Yep, as the day he was born. He said he thought he was home and going to take a shower. |

| I don't even have a degree. I got 'lucky' and got my foot in the door, but then the family friend who got me in retired and we also had a new director come in, and that's when it got really really bad. |

| Black, what's funny is I got my MLIS and thought I wanted to work in a library. I won't go near any public ones, at best I will work at a university library. |

| Gosh im glad im not customer facing haha. When I worked at a riding school I had a kid refuse to ride a pony because it was the wrong colour once- that didn't go down well funnily enough haha |

| Now I just get yelled at by stressed out managers and nod and nod and nod until they go away and then ignore whatever it was they were yelling at me about while they go yell at someone else after me. |

| Oh, I got the cops called on me because one of the mentally disabled got mad I told her she couldn't check out the stack of 20 DVDs she had (only 3) and she started screaming that I stole her wallet. Almost forgot about that one! |

| What's sad? At the time I lived in a town of 6000 people. In the midwest. In the middle of a cornfield where there was supposedly next to zero crime. |

| Boss writing me up for fear mongering when I told coworkers the doctor told me I most likely had covid but I didn't qualify for a test early 2020 when that all kicked off (she told me I just had a bad sinus infection. I got further in trouble after I asked her when and where she got her medical degree?) I no longer work at a library. lol. Now I go sling boxes at Amazon where I have no customer/patron interaction. |

| Having to call the cops because of the not all there peeps decided to start destroying the children's area because the aliens were coming out of the shelves to get them. |

| Getting screamed at over a 30 cent fine and death threats because of it. Library staff stalkers.... |

| We got swarmed by cops on two different occasions because the bank next door got robbed twice and someone said the culprit dashed into our building. |

| Worst incident I remember? We had to start locking the public restrooms. Someone decided to smear waste matter all over the bathroom... Not once. Not twice... but on three separate occasions. Grown ass adults too. |
