| Unfortunately shes stuck there because its the only one the state is willing to pay for for the kid and they already prepaid like a month of lessons and wont let her move, Kid has her heart set on it to because the worker told the kid before she told the guardian and now my friend doesnt wanna just rip her out of it since its the first thing shes been acutally happy about in the six months shes had her |

| the barn they are riding at is super sketchy and didnt even advise them to have her wear boots with a heel they just let her ride in runners unfortunately |

| If they're starting at a riding school then the school should have a selection of helmets they can try (and require that they wear), so that might help before they're ready to buy one |

| A lot of brands are shaped differently too, so if they were able to go into a tack store and try different kinds on that would probably be best. |

| Ovation and Troxel are the brands we used at the barn I worked at. They are relatively cheap but also up to code |

| Not sure if it necessarily counts as a budget helmet, but OneK helmets hold up and are comfortable. I always rode in one at home because I considered it my disposable helmet if I ate it lol |
