Lydia there's not much to go on with either of the parent's tracking to try to determine that. There is also such a thing as nice random factor, so personally I'd try that match again without items and see if that mare continues to produce above her rating. If so, at that point hopefully they'll have more info to help you decide what would be best to add.
Choose a few of my best mares or those two year olds with excellent training and use them. I will match with stallions at the top of the LB.
I will breed and check to see if that foal took the sire up or down the LB. If the sire drops down the LB I will geld the colt if not he stays. Then I make remarks so I can keep track of training and all of that goes into next times futurity babies.

Grape I mass breed my EEW combos to WWW studs and have never had a complaint. If it seems like a particularly good stud I'll make sure to leave a few breedings for others but for the bog standard ones I use as many as I need. Owner still gets paid after all!
Is mass breeding EWW/WEE cheap studs generally frowned upon(even if the notes don't say no mass breeding)? I've still got a ton of PPP mares to breed before RO but I'm running out of my own studs T.T
