Ah yep. Hoses. Dogs either love them or hate them.

I took a shower with a bernese to get her over her fear
Once was enough for her but didn't work with the other dog

He gets baths outside.

Also, I'd start with low water pressure on their back or rear and as they get use to it move towards the head.

Don't add water till they're comfortable standing in the bath, otherwise you might ruin it all.
Put a small amount of water in the bath and then encourage them to jump in. Mark it, praise well and treat.
Gradually increase the water level.

He is fine with that. I have to use the hose. That is where the trouble is.

Myrth, in that case. Patience. Lots of it, and go slow. Possibly walk before the bath. Walk until they poop and/or pee. Let them smell everything. Put your face close to them and spray water on yourself so they see it's not going to hurt them. And as cheesy said positive reinforcement. Talk to them a lot too.

I personally would feed them some treats (seperately) in the bathroom (or whereever you're washing them) to get them comfortable. Then gradually put treats on top of the bath, in the bath, so they jump in. Take it slow.

When she struggled I made her stay & didn't resume washing till she had still
She was smart enough to know her fussing made it take longer
Also she was small enough to fit in a sink

Myrth, depends. Are they a nervous dog or are they more like 'I'm gonna do what I wanna do'?

My biggest thing is positive reinforcement. I think that and patience are the most important things for training.

How do you handle a dog that thinks baths are deadly? 😂
