I wish you luck! Allergies in pets can be so difficult

Bird
Real. The price is why we try other things first. A surprising amount of people come in saying their dogs have allergies to their food, and low and behold a few questions later they realize it started with a season change and their animal actually has an outdoor/indoor allergy and they don't need the expensive food trials, just regular baths

Bird, Ooo that sounds promising for him! I might just have to bite the pricey bullet xD he already eats what we like to call "crushed diamond kibble" so hopefully it won't be too much more expensive than what he has at the moment lol

@DD, that is the nice thing about hydrolyzed. It is made to avoid almost all allergens. Only downside is it can be pretty darn expensive.

Bird & Snitch, I'm definitely going to talk with his vet about it! Hopefully we'll be able to find one that doesn't have any of the allergies we already know of in it xD

We have a few dogs with super bad allergies at the vet hospital I work for and it's one of the things we try if symptoms can't be managed with cheaper alternatives. Down side is that is ALL they can eat. No table scraps or poop rummaging or else it's not going to work properly

@DD, based on the research I have done and what my vet has said, they typically go on a hydrolyzed diet for a couple months to clear out their system and then you can try adding in specific allergens like chicken to see if they react.

My cat is currently on a hydrolyzed diet, but that is because of his gut issues.

Bird & snitch, we haven't tried a hydrolyzed protein diet yet, we might have to check it out!

Mossy, im hoping we can get to the bottom of it!

Or another important factor, do you only feed your dog a hydrolyzed protein diet?

I hope you figure it out! My same GSD had his removed for his chronic tonsillitis. Hopefully your pup gets better soon.

@DD, has you ever tried a prescription hydrolyzed food?
Dash and Duchess
09:11:06 DD | ~Squizard~
Bird, he does have a ton of allergies, but we thought we'd finally found a food that would work, looks like we might have to go back into the depths of food searching xD
-
Mossy, we haven't checked his tonsils, we do know he has allergies but I'll definitely talk with the vet about getting his tonsils looked at, thank you!
