| angel perhaps because their offspring and underdevoloped by the end of gestation? platyous are semi aquatic so cant have underdeveloped young on their body ( like marsupials) as they would drown, and echidnas spend a fair amount of time undergorund so imagine the same reasoning applies. That and it just works so adapting didnt lower or raise mortality in the early stages of life |

| Alyssa That is a good one but I think it would be too broad and easy to answer. It doesn't have to be vertebral just comparative anatomy in general. I am trying to find some ideas that are more difficult to research but simple if that makes sense |

| If Im thinking right, cattle have 13. Still prey animals, but maybe shorter since theyre bodies aren't as athletic and need to have room for their highly functioning abdomen? |

| Angel A question could be how vertebral columns can be related to the needs of the animal. Like how horses are flight/flight. So they have 18 thoracic vertebrae/ribs to comprise their large lungs. But you can go on and on by each species. |
