My mom rode her whole childhood and competed as a teen/young adult in rodeo. I started english age 4 and have never had any formal instruction or competition in a western saddle lol
My parents, while they are ok with me riding do not want anything to do with it. My aunt had a nasty situation with a spouse that involved horses when I was a young child, so my dad naturally does not like them. But they are proud of me for making my own way with it
I hated getting anything less than 100%. Hated it! I got 98% on a math test. It was the highest grade in the class and qualified for an A, but that 98% was a thorn in my toe. I found the teacher during his next office hours to ask him which question I missed. He was extremely irritated I even bothered, but I needed to know what I did wrong. He was like, "Who cares! You got an A! Now leave so I can spend time with students who actually need my help." LOL!
Sports mean nothing to my mom. As are what matters. Her son could be quaterback for an NFL team and she honestly wouldn't give a fuck. She wouldn't watch games or anything because 'theres not point to playing sports. You can't live of of that'. Um excuse me? lol
Was looking through the finances and payments made today. I noticed I only paid for the lease, not the lessons. Oops. Quickly sent the lesson payment. I am just so sleep deprived since pharmacy had an issue with my scripts.
Athena, my parents were the exact opposite. They didn't care one whit about grades. They valued sports and I was extremely un-athletic. I was so bad I was dangerously bad! So I pushed myself to get perfect grades to make up for my failures. They still didn't care. LOL! I was the first person in my family to go to college, and it showed. XD
Unfortunately, I also had a reputation for being a "troubled youth" when I was in high school. Everyone assumed I was up to no good, even when I was on my best behavior, so I can totally relate to that one.
I would freak when I got a 99 on a test in high school. It would feel like I failed. I've gotten better a little bit. I have one B+ assignment that makes me cringe but I'm trying to use it as a learning and growth thing
@Athena, I am the same way. My Mom freaked out when I got a B+ in math one semester in high school. Plus I was told my B+ grades in college would never be good enough for me to get into my program.
PNW I believe it. I'm an overachiever(not proud of it) and raised to be 'perfect' with straight As. Even the thought of being accused of cheating scares the shit out of me for many reasons
I'm not sure then. I graduated from high school in the 90s. Plagiarism has always been a big deal but AI wasn't a thing yet, obviously. I never had to worry about that.
I was accused of plagiarism on a paper I submitted in college because it was "too good". That professor had never read anything I had written before. Once I got over the panic (potential expulsion OMG) I brought all of my notes and rough drafts into her office to prove the work was mine. I also showed her other essays I'd written for previous classes. She accepted the paper and I got an A+. It took a long time to come down from that stress, though!
