Some horses seem to mind it, others do not. My one mare gets thinning shears instead of pulling whilst my sister's gelding actually seems to relax when you pull his mane lol
glacier There's very few nerve endings in the crest of the neck I still dont like doing it cause i like a thick mane and if i need to even it out ill give it a little trim
@Glacier, true. However, I made the mistake of think that people cut their horses mane to achieve that look and gave my horse a really bad haircut. XD thankfully it grew back
Lexi is not just being used for me at the show, she is being used by some juniors in various classes to win scholarships. So unfortunately not clipping them is not an option this time. At the local show where it will just be me using her I just may not care. As far as her mane goes, depends on the class, it has to be clean, some English classes require braids. I am doing halter and western and they just require it to be clean.
@Silver, ah, that will do it! All the shows I have participated in have been schooling shows so they are very low key. I would just bath my horse and that is it. Always wanted to learn how to plait though
They used to do it because they looked fancy (?) I guess. But like, if someone held me down and shaved my sensory organs I would be very angry. So I have never understood why it was ever a thing

If you have Dapple Blend Grain, you can feed it to your horse and their coat will dapple.
The effect will wear off after a few days. One pound of grain will be fed at a time.
If you feed Senior Blend to your senior horse they will have a 10% decreased chance in dying
