i really want to take a part-time job at one of the stables nearby, just mucking and feeding, but i'm worried about if i'd be physically able to. i've got bad arthritis in both my knees and i'm more prone to joint dislocations, do y'all think mucking and feeding would be dangerous? or is it more like a medium-level difficulty of physical labor?
Sav, that's basically what happened to me minus the injury... I think most horse trainers just trip and fall into it 😂 my own trainer only started training because she owned a barn and let another trainer train out of it, then the other trainer sucked so she went "oh my god let me do this" and bam thirty years later she has one of the biggest programs in the county
To clarify im not like head trainer i just teach beginners to intermediate and then give them to my trainer when i feel like theyre ready to like start jumping courses or whatever
I also just kinda fell into teaching, I was exercising horses for my trainer and stuff and the trainer before who was like my bestie got injured (shes still not better :( ) so i taught a few lessons and it went well and ive just been going since then Im at a very small barn compared to the other barns around me which i think kinda helped
$200? Shoot neighborhood kids just show up when I got out to the horses and ask me stuff till it gets dark. Then I gotta “actually” work in the dark after they go home.
Feels like the equestrian community is so small around here it would be hard to find a trainer willing to let someone shadow and eventually take some of their students.
