Rain, that's what my instructor said, too. Missy knew what that side tug meant and cooled her jets every time, but I can see how it would be really useful on a horse that seriously wants to bolt or buck.
trigger my little mare loves to gallop and crowhop, and I'm scared to pop her in the nose with a halter😪she also only has an accelerator, no brakes, so she's quite the challenge lol
i used to ride the sweetest Shetland mare (i say sweetest but she was a sterotypical silly kids pony) but i loved her The horse im riding right now that isnt mine is a welsh x TB mix hes very fun
I am going through photos now and it is just the same day haha. Back a year ago actually, the one of her in the dressage saddle is more recent, and I rode her no martingale there too, but I just have video of it.
I am worried about hurting them too. The martingale is only used for Lexie really. And most of the photos I have of her are from the same lesson lol. So just a snippet. Not the full picture. I am more safe here than the other barns in my area that is for sure. And I have tried several.
Looks like the sun is setting here, and I still haven't left the house at all today. I'm going to log off to take a brief walk so I can at least say I wasn't cooped up ALL day. I'll be back later!
personally i think using a running martingale on a student who struggles with contact (which im guessing is what you mean by hands too light?) is quite weird, thats just kinda a bandaid for a riding issue
PNW It works great! They cant buck without their spine straight, and you can circle them to give them something to think about. or even turn on the haunches or something.
